It’s been toooo incredibly long since I’ve posted a, well, post. As always, it’s not because I haven’t had anything to post, it’s actually quite the opposite. Since I last posted, I have wrapped up the season with about 15 more engagement sessions, a ton of weddings and more! So since then, it’s been editing, editing and editing away. “werk werk werk werk.. werk”…… And I’m almost, 100% done with editing. 4 more weddings to go and I’m doing my best to have them all done by late next week.
All that being said, I need to get back to real life posting. So I’ll start with this wedding for Janet and Matt. Their day went down at The Candlewood Inn in Brookfield, CT. And the awesome’ness of this wedding will be followed in the coming days with another awesome wedding which was in the mountains of North Western Maine, which was another awesome adventure. Anyway, for now….. Let’s get on with it for Janet and Matt!!!
What can I say about their day, other than the fact that it went off without a hitch. Well, for the most part. There was one other photographer who wanted to shoot where we were shooting at Lovers Leap State Park. He had quite the issue, do you want to know what’s important though? My couples, so I pretty much said “take a ticket” and we did what we had to do. That and I thought a couple of the groomsmen were about to throw him into the water.
Really though, everything about the day was perfect. As I drove to Danbury where Janet was getting ready, the sun was shining, the sky was blue and the weather was pretty much perfect!!! Walking into the room, all the girls were filled with laughter, some sarcasm and loads of smiles. From a little birthday “cake” cookie to some stunning bridal portraits. So wonderful.
From the hotel it was the first look time. Their wedding is a classic case of WHY YOU SHOULD do a first look. It allowed for us to not only capture images with out rushing or stress, it allowed us to create even more with some smoke, with a few locations and a ton of awesome. On from the first look, the rest of the day went off with out a hitch as I already stated. Must mean it really was that awesome. For now, I’ll stop the rambling and let the photos tell the story. As always, the full wedding day pretty much unfolds from here in photos.

So it’s truly the height of wedding season, yes, it’s been going non-stop all year, but now it really cranks up right till mid November. That being said, some of the posts won’t be filled with quite as much of a story but more of the day itself. Really, it’s about the photos and the couple anyways. Not a bunch of my words saying this and that…… Right?
Anyway, Jana and Andrew. These two have known each other for a long time and realized something, they should really just keep knowing each other for all the years to come. It’s so obvious that these two are besties and I believe one of their keys to this long term success is that they are both individuals and get that they get that about each other. And they compliment each and roll with the laughs and the smiles.
Jana brings this elegant side and Andrew brings a certain roughness, but in this really dapper way. She enjoys the hair, the make up and the shoes and looking on point. He enjoys the Harley the cigars and the whiskey. If you ask me, it’s a pretty great match.
Bring on their wedding day, it was pretty much perfect. It was also fun having them get ready in the same room. It brought moments that are rarely seen on a wedding day. Most of the time you have a bride and groom, nervous in their separate rooms, each hoping the other is getting everything they need for their day. In this case, when needed, Jana was there for Andrew and he was there for her. You know, like the moment when she had to play seamstress to do a little touch up on her dress. Which was sort of sucky, but I also won’t lie, it created some pretty sick shots. And it was a moment Andrew couldn’t really see because he hadn’t sene the dress.
From there, it was the elevators in the bottom floor of the G. Fox building where Andrew would see his stunning bride in her dress. Then it was shots up in the mezzanine the ceremony, shots around Hartford, the sky, the perfect evening and then….. THE PARTY!!!!
All in all, looking back, I don’t think there’s really anything I could see that needed to change. It was just a stunning day and one heck of a party with love, family and friends that know how to throw it down!!!
For now, let’s roll with some photos from the day.

So this one day, it was a day like no other. Especially for Jenny and Greg. Who would have thought that after these two met, they would never part. And the crazy thing is how they met. Jenny was flying home from Greece and ended up on the wrong flight. Her seat….. Was right next to Greg. They chatted the entire flight and before they parted he gave her his number, kissed her good bye and said “Hopefully I’ll hear from you again soon”….. Orrrrr…. That’s a totally false statement. They met thru her best friend.
Anyway, their day, they embraced everything that came their way. Not that there were many things unexpected, really, the day was just about perfect. It did rain, but what did they do??? They embraced it and we still rocked out all the photos outside. Even in the taller wet grass, Jenny was all about it! And it’s that kind of attitude that makes awesome possible. One of the other key parts, the first look. Greg, nervously waiting for Jenny to walk out to him. The rain lightly falling. And the second Greg turned around, his entire energy went to the sky and it was soooo awesome to witness. And because of the first look, we also got to roll smoothly thru the day, creating images that are only possible when the first looks happen. There’s no rushing, there’s a rhythm that builds and we have so many opportunities to make some stellar images happen.
What else did they handle like superstars? Turkeys! Yes, I SAID TURKEYS!!!! They seem to enjoy the golf course at the New Haven Country club. During the ceremony….. “Gobble Gobble”……. Vows… More gobbles… It was actually pretty fun. (between me and you, I was hoping they were gonna turkey strut themselves right down under the ceremony tree. haha.)
Anyway… Their day, it really was a great one. From the getting ready, to the girls all getting some pretty awesome rose gold flasks, to the dance party that went down. So great all the way thru and such a statement to who these two truly are (even if they didn’t meet while flying home from Greece) and who their friends and family are, let alone what they all mean to each other…
Sooooo. I guess I’ll just let the images tell their story from here.
Show Jenny and Greg your loving comments down below. 🙂
In Memory of Jackie’s Grandfather who recently passed. Because he got his moves on, dancing with the young ladies and his lady this night all night….
So the day, it’s one of those New England Summer days, the sun is hot, the humidity is making itself known and there’s a bride and groom getting to say their “I – do’s”…
“Where?” You ask??? Latitude 41 at Mystic Seaport. I mean, nothing makes a New England summer day more New England, than a place like Mystic Seaport. On the water, big ships and lots of fun! Not to mention latitude 41 and Coastal Gourmet is always on point and doing what they can to make it great!
As for the couple, Jackie and Heath. They’re fun ones who seem to know each other so well! (I feel like Erin, the brides maid needs to be mentioned too. Just because if she’s not, she’ll be sad. And her man who took advantage of me while I was shooting from the grass. Still having nightmares. hahaha.) Okay, back to this wedding and this couple.
Before jumping ahead of myself… Let’s chat about how they met. And it seems like things are making more and more sense. Like Heath getting caught trying to sneak Jack and Cokes into the venue. He obviously likes to see what corners he can get around… As they say here, with “dipping the pen in company ink.” (I’m going to leave all the other comments in my head out of this)… “We met while we both worked for a large banking institution in NYC.
Clearly didn’t follow that whole dipping the pen in company ink, because we not only worked for the same company, but actually worked for the same group. We spent most days trying to avoid contact at the actual office, and dodging coworkers on our commute home. We used to get a lot of laughs out of our commutes.”..
From there, they both got fired for said ink dipping. hahaha. Okay, maybe they didn’t, but they did begin to realize it was the real deal and things were getting hot and heavy. So hot that Jackie recounts an evening where things were really hot…“It was hot, haha like I almost passed out from the heat… Heath mentioned earlier that week wanting “authentic sushi” and that the Japanese gardens, Morikami was worth a visit. I think we got there like right when it opened at 10am, and we basically were the only ones there. We got halfway through the walk, and Heath pulled me to the side. He took me by the hand and asked if I could spend the rest of my life with him. I responded with…”I guess, if you’re not a bone head”. He laughed, then proceeded to say, “well then I have another question for you” and got down on one knee. After a quick yes and almost passing out from the heat, we made our way onto the sushi lunch that Heath wanted.”
Reading these damn things always give me chills………
So that brings us to their wedding day, where Jackie wasn’t nervous till I showed up. Which was funny since I heard they were just gonna be drinking Champagne and waiting for me to get there. Which, if you read her wedding day confession, is pretty much what it was. “I wasn’t super antsy or nervous until Tim showed up. When he got there, I knew that it was time to get into the dress and get the show on the road. Up until that point, my girls and I were just enjoying our time together in the suite being pampered. He got there and it all of a sudden got super real that the ceremony was going to start!”
Anyway, the truth is, neither of them were really “nervous”… Just excited – “For both of us it was the excitement and anticipation. I remember being able to see Heath from afar as we made our way to the aisle, then having him dip out of sight until we were pretty much at the altar. It was honestly one of the longest walks of my life.” And the good news is that looking back, they both say they wouldn’t change a thing. They rocked out the day even with having to plan it from 1000 miles away. So while Jackie enjoys her favorite treat of ice cream, and heath enjoys his as well, eating jackie’s ice cream before she can, they plan on moving forward with life. They had their awesome honeymoon in Maui and now just want to travel more.
Anything they wanted to share about their day – “In general, my advice would be to find the vendors that you not only like their work, but you also like their personality. I think what made our day run so smoothly was I knew my vendors totally got us, and our vision for the day. I never once felt like I was bothering them when calling in regards to what I deemed stupid questions or concerns. They answered timely and walked me through each step of the process, and I think a lot of that was because they were passionate about what they did, but also passionate about OUR day being their focus at that moment on the phone/email/etc.”
“That whole it goes fast thing, is totally legit. Take each moment as it comes and cherish it. All weekend we had great food, great weather and an amazing time celebrating with family and friends. Also watch out for the security guard at Mystic Seaport, apparently dressing in tuxes and a wedding dress is not proof enough that you are in fact the wedding party that was allowed on the property to take photos and not the random group of people looking to party there… Also also- dancing your butt off really happens, ask our groomsmen who legit shredded his pants on the dance floor, haha. “
And well, that’s that. Other than what they shared about their photographer, because I’m obviously going to share that… Their thoughts: “Passion and personality. You spend a hell of a lot of time with your photographer – between engagement pics and the wedding day, we did not want someone who didn’t click with us. I’d seen it at past weddings I was in or attended, where the couple and the photographer just didn’t mesh. To me, it showed in the pics. Also passion for what they do. Anyone can take a photo, but it takes someone who has passion for photography to really think outside the box for photo ideas, and go the extra mile (laying on the grass etc) to get that pic.”
I guess now we can move on to their pics. Huh???

When a couple comes to you from a referral, an awesome referral who also great one. And then, when their engagement session time comes around and they come in style, a matching style to what their wedding day will be…. AAAGGHHHH… Off the hook.happens to shoot for you from time to time, you know that they’re going to be a
Their engagement session went down with this energy that was calm yet “aggressive”. The look of love and determination, heart filled photos with attitude and a style that was just so great!!!! I mean… If you don’t remember that post from a while back, these photos are just a couple… From that moment on, honestly before that, but from that moment on. I knew that this Great Gatsby themed wedding was going to be so exciting!!!!
So…… Their wedding day… One thing, before we even get started like that, just so you get a sense of how excited these two are and how they keep each other guessing, Nicole’s wedding day confession: “I was so curious to hear what chris’ vows were going to be lol this kid always has something up his sleeve – you just never know. I’d say referencing a 15 year old girl inside of him hit the curiosity right on the head. Unforgettable for sure! ” -nicole”
Anyway… The day…….. This day, WAS SO PERFECT!!! The sky was blue, the salty breeze coming off the water, up and over the lawn to their perfect venue. Perched – looking over Long Island Sound is the Branford House. Magnificent for sure and what a great fit for their day. The bridal party was so awesome too! Everyone held back on the consumption of spirits amount and instead enjoyed what the morning and early afternoon held all on it’s own. Speaking of the bridal party, without the maid of honor none of this would have even happened and I would have been sitting on my porch crying that I didn’t have a wedding that day. (that’s a complete lie, I would have probably had another wedding. But still……..)… Anyway, back to Katie the maid of honor. Check it, that’s how they met… “My maid of honor katie invited me out one night and Chris just happened to be there. We talked that night and then when I went to leave Chris said ” but I haven’t had time to court You” no clue who even says that but he had me interested and the rest is history.”
“I haven’t had time to court you” Chris??? Hey, no one can question it because you two are awesome!
From there, it wasn’t history because Chris still had to ask her to be his person. His forever. His love and support and he hers… And he did. In great style. Again, keeping her on her toes. “Chris planned to take me to a Christmas tree farm which was one of my favorite things to do during the Christmas season and propose to me. My nephew had other plans and decided to be born in Florida at the beginning of December and I flew back bringing with me and ear infection. That wasn’t going to stop Chris from popping the question. He went up to vermont to a friends cabin and stole a christmas tree from the side of the road on the way home to bring to me. He brought the too tall Christmas tree in the house and after leveling it out i got in the shower to get ready to go out with our friends for dinner. While I was in the shower Chris purt the ring on a glass rose and put it in the tree. I got dressed and still had my hair in a towel when I went out to look at the tree. Chris asked me to look at the tree to see if it was leaning at all and to look at it. Me so oblivious because he always told me that he would never propose around the holidays so you can imagine how shocked I was when I found a glass rose with a beautiful diamond on it. I found the rose and turned around to him on one knee in the living room. “
(falling backwards into the tree and knocking it over… But she still said yes)… (the first half of that statement is false. no tree falling happened)….
For the rest of their wedding, it was pretty perfect, Chris’ main goal “keeping Nicole from flipping out” something they wish they could go back and change about their day… “We wish we could make the day longer”…
So anyway, from the moment when Nicole said “I love you”, because she said it first at the bottom of a coffee mug (It’s a good thing Chris finished that cup of coffee huh?? . To their wedding day to their plans moving on from this day… To which they say are… “To make a baby”… Has this happened yet? haha The things they would share “with the masses” would be…
Tips to future couples: “Do a first look. It is magical! And don’t make it quick give yourself time. During the wedding EAT! We ate all of it including the cake and loved every minute of it!”
To anything else they want to say to everyone: “To say to the masses? We had a blast! Best night of our lives and it wouldn’t have been as awesome without the love we were surrounded with. To You? Thank you thank you thank you. It didn’t seem like we hired a photographer but instead a friend. We can’t wait for Allies wedding, hope to share beer and cheers to the amazing memories.”

Only the best! (I guess that would be me… Second shooters Amma Rhea, Joel Callaway, Jacek Dolota)
There story is like no other. Playing basket ball at the YMCA when Peter threw a ball in one direction and it happened to be the exact spot Jamie was standing. Right to the noggin, she fell to the floor and when she looked up. Peter was standing over her trying not to laugh…. Okay okay… That’s an exaggeration. But it was at the YMCA and it was playing basketball. But as she puts it. “It was a love at first sight kind of moment….”
There day was pretty awesome. The weather was great and as I drove out to that part of New York I was excited to not only shoot the day but to also meet this two. It happens, at times, where I end up not meeting the couple till the day gets here. This was one of those days, I wasn’t worried though because every phone call had us laughing and well, they get my sarcastic side as well. Driving the windy roads, faster than I probably should have, pulling into the hotel and walking in and it was like we had known each other for ever. Make up being done, the nerves building and onto the venue where not only would we get the dress on, but a first look with dad that had everyone in tears, then a first look with Peter, more tears… Then portraits of the two of them… I think the tears were done by then???
All that being done, it was time…… The ceremony: As Jamie recalls “I had to give myself a pep talk before walking down from the room to not puke haha. I think I was nervous because it was finally hitting me that our big day was here and I was about to become a wife” She didn’t puke (which is good since her walking down the aisle was one of Peters favorite moments from the day), as a matter of fact, no one did. That’s a plus! haha. Ceremony was great, the cocktail hour with an awesome selection of eats, drinks and more, and then the reception… Which also brings on a favorite moment for Jamie “Our first dance as husband and wife”….Their dance with their son climbing up into their arms. Then the party… One thing they said, which I think most couples would agree on is the food. That food that you put time into choosing, you look forward to…. And hits your table first.. Before anyone else’s.. That food. That almost always… You don’t get time to eat. “GETTING A CHANCE TO EAT! To actually enjoy the food! (And to have more cake)”….
Really thought, it was a great day, we (my second shooter Melanie and I) rocked out the day with these two and I am pretty sure it all went off without a glitch, hitch or hiccup….
As for the “any tips for future couples” question which I always ask: “Take the time to enjoy the small moments. There was a point in time where Tim stopped us and told us to just hold each other and take a moment to really let the feelings of the day sink in.. to allow us to take a special moment to breathe in our day. Once the day has arrived, there is nothing to stress about, so don’t! No one will know if everything doesn’t go 100% according to plan (and it probably won’t). So just sit back and relax and take in the day for everything it isn’t”
And anything else these two wanted to share??? “Thank you to you, Tim. You were an absolute pleasure to work with. You were professional, and at the same time felt like you were just another loved one attending the wedding. The easy going nature and sense of humor you brought to the day made for so much less stress and so much more happiness. Melanie was also wonderful!!! We wish we could relive it again!”
Really though, thank you guys because you’re the ones that invited TAB Photographic into your day. And because of that, and a few other reasons, YOU’RE AWESOME!!!!!
