Boston Wedding Photographers Backyard Wedding TAB photographicAs a wedding photographer, I travel far and wide to capture the love, the moments and the excitement of a wedding day. From Oregon to Jamaica, From Florida to New Mexico. And of course, tons of New England weddings. Each wedding unique and wonderful in it’s own ways and styles.

From the moment we jump in the car or step foot onto the plane, the thoughts of “what will this wedding hold for new and exciting moments” begin to roll thru my brain. And for Kelsey and Matt’s wedding, that was no different.

Shabby Chic DIY Backyard wedding photos by TAB photographicTheir wedding in the backyard of Matt’s parents home. And such a great little spot! A nice lake sized pond in the backyard, a wonderful backyard with a “shed” (this was no shed) that would be wonderful in my backyard, to the awesome BBQ dinner that was being put together with an entire pig, chicken, great salads and more. Really, this DIY backyard wedding was nothing short of awesome.

Every detail, from the flowers in her hair, to the candles lit and the signs. Everything….. Perfect. Even the weather!!!

So you’ll look thru the photos below and find some great details and ideas for your own weddings. Especially the unplugged sign!!!

And the other thing you’ll see is plenty of fun from the bridal party photos because their day, their day was on time which allowed for some great fun and creating. And Kelsey and her bridesmaids were all about a “mic drop” photo with their bouquets….. So….. Why not. haha….

What happens when you walk into a bridal suite and all the girls are laughing, hair and make up is already done and everything is actually running on time???? Well, you get ready for an awesome flippin day!!!

Fox Hill Inn Wedding Brookfield, Ct. PhotographersYa see, this year most, I would actually say 75% of the weddings have been running behind schedule… In other words, late. And well, that honestly doesn’t make for the best photography. Time is taken away from the creativity and flow and everything turns into a rush…..

BUT NOT ON THIS DAY!!!! 🙂

This day, for Ania and Brian, things were on time and they flowed awesome. From the grooms getting ready to the brides transformation. The day was just splendid. The sun was bright and the temps were perfect. Add in there the Fox Hill Inn in Brookfield, Ct. where this entire shindig went down, and BOOM! It was a great day for an awesome wedding!!!!

We scheduled the time for a first look and to rock out all the bridal party photos prior to the ceremony. This is one of the best ways to get awesome photos because no one is sitting there thinking about food and drink. Instead, everyone is just having a great time. Laughing, creating and spending time with the wonderful couple before they say their “I do’s”….

Anyway… How about we move on with all this mumble jumble and share some photos and more from the day!

ENJOY!!!!!

KristinArslanESession_0051Hartford - West hartford Engagement Session Elizabeth Park Weddings by TAB Photographic Ct. Wedding PhotographersIt was that time… Engagement Session time! And these two, so much fun. Seriously went with the flow and were game to just rock it out.

We met at the Hartford, the capitol building to be exact. So much great architecture but really, it wasn’t about the building. It was about their love. The laughs. And the energy that these two carry with them around.

From Hartford we went to West Hartford and Elizabeth Park which was just as great. Though this year, it’s odd because things that should be or would normally be in bloom aren’t, and things that normally would have bloomed and already passed, were just mid bloom… Crazy New England weather!

Anyway… Their photos and their little slideshow fun…..

LauraJaredWedding_0202So here we have it, the wedding day for Laura and Jared… I’m not going to get long winded here because I think their photos and little teaser tell the story better than I ever could. BUT…. That doesn’t mean I’m not going to share just a few thoughts. haha…

2016-06-07_0007Their day, well, had quite the hiccup when they got a call from their original venue saying “you can’t have your wedding here”…. I think that may have been a blessing in disguise though, because the Dolce Center in Norwalk was pretty great. “About 9 weeks before the wedding (and the day my invitations went out) my original venue closed unexpectedly. It was stressful but we were very happy to find Dolce Norwalk so quickly. The hardest part was communicating the change to all the vendors and guests. Thankfully it all worked out for the best. Otherwise, I loved planning my wedding. I kept my priorities in check and planned the day focused on hosting a great party. “ Even though it rained for part of the day, and then some more of the day, it all went off with out a hitch. Well, that’s a lie, because these two got hitched here… (Yea, I just got that lame with a joke. haha)….

2016-06-07_0013Anyway, Jared and Laura. A great couple for sure, even though Jared doesn’t love the photo side of things, he worked hard to help create some awesome! Even more so on April Fools Day when he proposed to Laura… Yes! You heard that right, he did it on April Fools Day!!! From what I’ve discover though, that’s very Jared style… haha. “Jared proposed while they were out for a run on Boston’s Charles River Bike Path. On a chilly April 1st run, Jared began what seemed to be a painfully awkward and flippant proposal…and then he yelled ‘April Fools’. Thankfully, before Laura became too upset he dropped to his knee to ask her properly to be his wife and pulled a beautiful diamond engagement ring out of his sweaty running pants.”

Dolce Conference Center Norwalk Ct. Wedding for Laura and Jared by Conn. wedding photographers TAB Photographic www.tabphotographic.comSo Laura, of course, accepted the sweaty pantsed proposal and was ready for that next chapter in their lives… And their day, just flowed with greatness. From the most important pieces “The ceremony was the most important part of the day. We were so happy to have our friend, Chris Kaiser, officiate our wedding to add a personal touch. I loved the moment when our nephews, Ben and Liam, brought up the wedding bands and Jared had switched out the band I purchased for him for a wild scull and crossbones ring that he purchased on a trip. It was definitely unexpected but I loved that Jared pulled one of his notorious pranks during the ce, remony. Second best moment – I insisted that immediately after our first dance the DJ play something uptempo to set the tone of the party. I told several friends to be ready to rush the dance floor when it started and all my guests followed them. We played 1999 by Prince and it was amazing.” To the advice she can now share after being a beautiful bride on her wedding day “Decide on what is most important to you and focus on those things. For me, the most important thing was that Jared and I got married that day, the second most important thing was that I threw a great party. I wanted to host an event that my guests would enjoy and really reflected our personalities. I worked with my vendors to make sure they understood that and took their professional advice seriously. I also surrounded myself with vendors I really liked creating a team to actualize those priorities.”

But really… I think the most important thing Laura says now, is just her state about the day as a whole… “I have never felt more beautiful or had more fun than the day of my wedding. It was more than I could have ever dreamed of.”

So let’s get on with the photos…

2016-06-01_0005While their wedding day is sneaking up on us fast, we managed to find some time to sneak up into the woods of Devil’s Hopyard State Park. Such a great little park with a river and as you can see, some falls. While we didn’t manage to find any bears or bob cats or, well, devils to work into any shots there was one great blue heron that came out of nowhere and fly right past our faces. Literally, maybe 15 feet from our faces! haha. He didn’t want to stick around for any photos either.

Anyway, wildlife or not, we had a great time shooting. From the Ct. river in East Haddam, up to the Hopyard. A great time.

Now, with their wedding weeks away, the excitement will build and the awesome day will surely come up quick! For now, a handful of their engagement shots coming your way!
