So I met Leah and Dave quite some time ago, guests at a great wedding in Mass. Chatting with these two for a bit and never losing touch. And that’s a great thing because the day that Dave contacted me letting me know his plans, I was so excited. She didn’t even know what was coming and he was planning everything out. And it started with asking for her hand in marriage. Which is exactly what he did. But here’s the thing, he wanted me there to capture the moment going down. The proposal. And of course I was game. The plan, to bring her to Jones Winery in Shelton for a work party… Only thing, there was no work party and this was a moment just for the two of them where he could have that moment to propose to her. Till that moment came, I found myself hiding and shooting from dark corners as well as under a counter and around the side of the bar. It went something like this.

From there, came the engagement session. OH WAIT! She did say yes, just in case you didn’t watch the video. So back to what I was saying, the engagement session. A great one for sure right in my town of Collinsville and the surrounding area. Only thing, holy gosh there was a crazy storm that came through town right as we started. We’re talking the sky turned black, the wind was crazy off the hook and it POURED!!!! Good thing it was one of those summer storms that came and went and just like that was gone. And with leaving, OMG, it created such a great backdrop and even better lighting. The steam off the roads, the rain drops falling from the trees, and the love that these two have for each other and for life overpowered it all!!! And with that. here’s the engagement session fun that we had.

What’s next, I mean, you have the proposal, then you have the engagement photos and of course, following up on that is the wedding. A beautiful day in late December for these two that have been so lucky to this point so why not carry it thru to their day. A quick pause and some quick thanks that they also made it thru was a very trying time a few months before the wedding where a horrific car accident landed them both in the hospital and Leah in the hospital for a few weeks. With God on their side they pulled thru and made it not only to their wedding day, but to their new forever. A forever that will have Dave and Leah together, growing more in love and creating more memories and moments to carry them thru. And that was all so apparent on their wedding day with their family and friends. Seeing that bond all the way thru. And it was incredible to witness throughout the day. Incredible to say the least.. So with out any further hesitation, maybe I should just share their wedding day  fusion slideshow as well. (Oh! And wait till you see the music breakdown around the 8 minute 15 second mark!!!)

2015-01-22_0005So how does it go, well, for me….. Something like this. I get a request for an awesome wedding, right off the bat I get excited about the thought of being invited into a couples day and then we start talking more and more about the details and I get totally amped. And it was no different for Jessica and John’s day. And just for starters, maybe a little on how it all went down. And of course right up there is their engagement session if you want to see where the photos all began.

And just in case you didn’t watch the video. These two met at work and right off the bat, had special restaurants and more. And the proposal, well, that went something like this. (or really, exactly like this)

“John had just started a new job and he wanted to go out to eat to celebrate. We went to our favorite restaurant, Lolitas, (also the location of one of our very first dates). After dinner we came home, i opened the door to our apartment and was shocked to see a very large bouquet of flowers and a bottle of champagne on ice! I turned around to see John down on one knee asking me to marry him. It was perfect, after eating at our special place, in our own home, just the two of us to have this amazing moment. I couldnt dream of anything better.” And she obviously said yes. That is after all how we got to where we are. (and he also tells the story in that video to the up top).

2015-01-22_0013And where are we anyway??? Well, right now we’re at their wedding day. A cold December day in the middle of no where New York. (don’t worry Jess & John, it was still awesome. Just no clue how I made it home in the dark. haha).. Obviously I’m just kidding, though it was almost all back roads for 2 hours. haha… The getting ready with all the laughs and then heading to Feast at Roundhill. A historic building with so much detail and a great reception room and an entire separate room for dancing. Finding this awesome venue  and creating such a great day didn’t come easy for Jessica as she wasn’t that bride who had this dream day planned since she was 5. “Putting the pieces together. I was not someone who had a dream in mind for her wedding. I knew i liked a “little of this and a little of that”, but I never had a full “vision”. It was very difficult for me to put all of the details together in my mind to picture as we were planing out the small details.”

2015-01-22_0017Their day went down in perfect style. From the getting ready to the ceremony thru the reception. Even a wonderful light snow fell thru part of the night which made it all the sweeter. And in that, was one of the most important and memorable and important pieces for these two. “The moment that we recited our vows. At that moment, all of the nerves disappeared. We both knew we were making the best decision of our lives, and looking into each others eyes, we both felt totally at home.” And it was so true. Even after doing the first look and most of the photos before the ceremony, it wasn’t till after the ceremony that they both truly took a big breath. And from there. They partied on thru the night.

So now, as they say…. It’s time for “the house, the kids and the whole 9 yards”….

In closing, when asked if they had any tips for other couples… “Have fun with everything….the things that go well, and the things that don’t go so well.”

What was important in finding a photographer… “Finding someone who understood our personality and our needs. Also, it was vital to find a photographer that wanted to photograph OUR wedding and not follow a “standard wedding package”

2015-01-22_0029And then when asked if there was anything else to share, well they surely got some extra brownie points with what they said… “Hiring Tim was one of the best decisions that we made in our planning. He became part of the family (actually some guests at the wedding thought he actually WAS part of the family). That is how good he is at making everyone feel comfortable. He is just the best (and his pictures are pretty too! ha!)”

I guess now it’s time to share the details and photos and more from their day too… OH! And don’t forget you can leave love down in the comments below for these two, and you can use the contact button above if you want to chat about your day.

leahwedding_0361OMG! It happened, it actually happened. A moment you have dreamed of for years, four words asked to you, or from you to her. Words that have played out in your mind in so many ways. “Will you marry me?”

And then it all starts to turn into a whirlwind of crazy. The planning, the thoughts, everyone else’s thoughts. And somewhere in there, well, that’s where I come in. The photographer for your day. You start to find photographer after photographer, offering this option and that package. All in a sea that is completely flooded with this pretty picture and that pretty picture. This hand holding that hand, this kiss and that kiss. A market that is completely over saturated – and in this sea of photographers you sit on an island, watching as the tides continue to rise toward you and you hope, you hope so dearly, that the decision you’re about to make for your days photography is the right decision for you. What is the right decision, well… That’s the real question. And that’s where you need to decide what you truly want for your day because all in all, there are three types of photographers, and one of these types will be, with out a doubt, the type you bring in to capture YOUR day, YOUR life… YOUR love…

The novice….

The amateur….

And the professional….
AshleyAndChrisWedding_0015If I were to take this post and describe each of these “types” in words, this post would turn from crazy long to ridiculously time consuming. So let me just give a quick run down and then I’ll get back to my original thoughts. The “novice”: a photographer that replicates, recreating what’s been done and holds no, or VERY little uniqueness to their work and in turn your day and will take thousands of photos hoping to get enough to create something that’s “okay”… Then the “amateur”: these photographers know the “rules” which make a “good” photo and the more of these rules they can force into a photo the more “goodness” the photo will have. This photographer can look for good light and in a stressed craze will try to create as many photos in this light as possible, again, using the rules learned… And then, then there’s the “professional”: In my eyes, the professional isn’t hired just to “get the job done”… The professional understands there is no good or bad, instead, the professional knows how to communicate and will do what ever it takes to have this communication come thru in order to create and capture the moments, the expressions and the love of your day. And will do so creating images that are uniquely yours… As your day and your love is unlike any other that has ever happened before or will ever happen or be again…

So back to what I was saying, I’m right here and I’m a professional photographer for your day. I believe I’ve let go of the rules and for me, I hope to continue making my own rules to create my own work for your day. I won’t let fear dictate what I run from in your day, instead I will look it square in the eyes and together we will shatter any fears in the day to create. TO CREATE!!! To capture and to fuse your dreams with photography and giving you the story that is uniquely yours.

SandraAndChrisWedding_0110Where does this all come from? It comes from a place of having something to say. I have something to say and I will say it throughout your day. And that something is simply love… There are so many computer tricks that individuals use, filters added, layers played with and more. Here’s the thing though, NONE OF THAT MATTERS. None of it matters unless there’s something trying to be said, coming from the person clicking that shutter release.

I guess I’m just sick of the sameness that is currently taking over the wedding industry. I don’t want your day to be plagued with that sameness. I want your day to be unique for the two of you and I want to be okay with my vision of your day. For your day… A vision that will revolve around the love the two of you have for one another and together.

When I am brought into capture your wedding day, obviously as a photographer I have to work with light, composition and timing. As a matter of fact, timing is one of the most important pieces of your day. You know what’s more important though, more than the composition and timing. It’s working with your day and thinking, even feeling, the days life – love and moments.

Chances are good, VERY GOOD, that I will probably be caught with a tear in my eyes many times over with every wedding I shoot. Chances are good that I will get goose bumps and smile as I capture each of you sharing your vows with one another. And well… Chances are good I will love your day just as much as you do and that love will come thru the photos because after all is said and done, I’m a professional photographer and will have something to say thru my work with your day.

:: PROUD PHOTOGRAPHER ALERT ::

So here it is… TAB Photographic has won the brides / couples choice award with weddingwire.com… “The WeddingWire Couples’ Choice Awards 2015 recognizes the top five percent of wedding professionals in the WeddingWire Network who demonstrate excellence in quality, service, responsiveness and professionalism.”  And it is chosen by brides and couples themselves. How does it work, simply off the love. The love which comes from my love for what I do. And reviews such as this one.

“Being someone who is very shy when it come to pictures of myself I was extremely nervous about this pick of the wedding planning. My sisters friends had used TAB and I loved their photos so we figured let’s try it. About 2 seconds into meeting Tim I realized why I loved his photographs. Tim captures your soul and your personality in each picture, each moment of your special day will be documented through the pictures. Tim makes everyone look beautiful, I think because he just becomes part of your occasion. Not only did my husband and I love the pictures but our families and friends had a great time at our wedding.
Tim gave us the best gift, memories that will last forever of the special time we had. TAB is a talented, trustworthy, and reasonable photographer who anyone would be lucky to share memories with.”

So all that being said, I just wanted to give a quick shout out to all my couples for helping make this happen. You rock!!! And yea… I think it’s pretty cool to be rocking the awards for 7 years in a row…..
