2014-10-31_0002Yup, Collinsville is my town. And I don’t shoot here often. As a matter of fact, I sort of keep it from being over shot for my own reasons. I just like to keep it sort of private. I mean… Till I post about it I guess. 😉

Anyway. It’s time to share some love for these two. Both have this friendship and love that pulls them together. Add in there, their love for traveling and you’ve got a couple that’s meant to be. (I actually just got an e-mail, literally 3 minutes ago that they’re in Vegas right now. Not FAIR! haha) The weather was beautiful, the wind calm. The sun high… And Sarah, well, she hung in there like a trooper even though she was feeling pretty under the weather. Honestly, if she hadn’t told me, or if I hadn’t caught on to how her energy level sank the second I said we were done, I never would have known.

2014-10-31_0004So starting out on the bridge in town with a cute sign she made so that they could use a photo or two for save the dates was awesome (those images are being kept secret for the most part). I’m pretty sure we can thank Pinterest for that??? And their date, 9.11.2015… The wedding, that’s going to be a great one at Candlewood Inn. Man, the way the sun sets over that place is fantastic. Pretty much as fantastic as it did for us. Throwing light across the autumn trees and foliage. It’s that golden hour, that moment when the lighting is perfect and their loves matches right up…

Enjoy the photos, enjoy the slideshow and get ready because their wedding will be coming up before they know it.

Feel Free to leave these two lovers some extra doses of love down in the comments area below the post. 😉

2014-10-30_0001There are always reasons that every man knows “that woman” will be his wife. And the thing is, it’s different for every man too. For Ron it was a few things. First “her love for her family” next up, “her love of dogs, I never knew anyone that loved dogs as much as I do, our dogs mean more than anything in the world to us”.. I can attest to that too because they brought those beautiful pups along for the engagement session and it was so obvious that they had just as much love for their pups as they do for each other. And then the third reason Ron knew “she” was the one… When he had to go in for surgery and “she stayed by my side the entire time, she stayed every night even though she had work and school the next day”

And that moment, that time in the hospital… Well, I think it was that moment for Katy too, as she recalls there wasn’t that “ah hah” moment of love. But there was  a moment in time when she put it all together… “I just remember looking at him one night and thinking that there was nobody else I wanted live the rest of my life with. I wanted to be the one who would sit by his side forever, and to take care of him when he was sick. As I sat there I just thought of everything I wanted for myself in the future and I couldn’t think of anyone else I would rather have by my side than Ron. I wanted him to be my husband and I knew that sooner or later he would be.”

So they had this love of dogs, they had some “vacation get away” time in the hospital together and less than a month after that, Ron found the ring…

2014-10-30_0017“It was July 1st 2012 at our favorite vacation spot in East Vassalboro Maine, at my familys cabin on the water. We were out in the water all day and in the hot weather. I knew I was proposing later that day so when it was approaching I knew there were going to be pictures taken because my whole family was at the cabin with us . So I was telling Katy  to shower because I knew she was going to want to look good in the pictures. She kept telling me I don’t want to take a shower over and over again but I kept telling her to take one. She finally did… lol. So later when the sun was setting over the lake we were both on the island, and I asked her to take a picture of us which I never do. After the picture I stood in front of her and said to her “you know how much I love you, and I want to spend the rest of my life with you” and she nodded and said “ I know” then I said “ well this is about to happen” which to this day I still have no idea why I said that lol. And I got  on one knee and she thought I was joking until I took the ring our of my pocket and opened it up and said “will you marry me?” she then started to cry and said “yes”. I got up and we kissed and everyone in my family was on the porch and they started screaming and clapping. It was a good night.”

Fast forward to the current time and it was a stellar wedding day taking place at Aria Wedding Banquets in Prospect, Ct. Ballrooms that are grande, chandeliers that shimmer, food that is awesome and so much more. And their day went down perfect. The first kiss was almost had in the dark, the cake was, ummmm…. Well, smashed with style and all in all, the party was spectacular. And from here, I believe both their lives will be spectacular together as well. Why do I say this? Well, when asked separately what they both look forward to. Ron says “I look forward to starting a family with katy. She has a lot of nieces and nephews and is great with kids. We also both have a love for dogs and both said that we want a dog farm lol. We are taking over her fathers breeding business and we cant wait to start. I pretty much just can wait to spend the rest of my life with my wife.” And Katy starts off with the same thing… The same talk about family.. “I think what excites me the most about our future together is building a family. I already know that he is going to be the most amazing father in the world. He’s a very quiet man that doesn’t wear his heart on his sleeve but I can already see the love that he will have for our future children just by the way he talks about the future and all the different things he wants to do with our future children.”

2014-10-30_0022So I guess, they’ll have their puppies, they’ll have their kids… And they’ll have each other…

But for now, what we have are photos below and a slideshow to boot. Enjoy them and if you want, share your love in the comments area below the photos. Anything you would change?
Everything is not going to go exactly how you want it to go on the day of the wedding and my wedding was no exception to that but I can’t think of anything that I would want to change. I married the most perfect man and everyone had a fantastic time and we couldn’t ask for anything more.

Any advice for other couples getting married and for their day?
Take some time after the ceremony and just be with your new husband/wife. Take everything in and realize you just chose to be with this person for the rest of your life. Even if it’s only five minutes alone, it will be the best five minutes together. Oh and everyone should get a photo booth, they are so fun!!

IMG_0281So yea, it’s not always about photos here. Sometimes I may share an adventure, other times some randomness or in certain instances, like this one… A recipe that I love and have made for the past three years in a row now…

Pumpkin Raisin Cookies… At least that’s how they began. I now add miniature chocolate chips to them too. And you can always substitute the raisins. For instance one time, I made them with chopped apples that I had coated in cinnamon. Another time I added chopped nuts. There’s so much you can do so outside if the “normal” recipe below. Play around a bit…

I love these cookies because they’re soft and almost cake like. Or maybe what a muffin would be if it weren’t in a muffin tin. Heck, maybe I’ll make them this week and use muffin tins to see how they come out. Either way, they’re delicious, not over the top sweet, but sweet enough. Not bland at all, but not so many flavors that your tastebuds are having a rave. They’re really, well… Just perfect fall treats… So, with out further ado….

  • Preheat oven to 350
  • Cream shortening and sugar till smooth
    • Add egg, vanilla and mix till fluffy
      • Stir in pumpkin
  • Sift flour / baking soda / salt / pumpkin pie spice & cinnamon
  • Stir flour mixture into pumpkin mix
  • Add raisins (and MINI chocolate chips if you want) or apples and or nuts or anything else you can think of
  • Place heaping tablespoons at least 2 inches apart and bake for 10-12 minutes until edges are brown.

For icing, I have used a basic confectioners sugar icing and drizzled over once cool. Or this last time around, I also used Stonewall Kitchens Sea Salt Caramel Sauce which was DELICIOUS!!!

INGREDIENTS:

  • 1/2 Cup ShorteningIMG_0279
  • 1 Cup Packed Brown Sugar
  • 1 Large Egg
  • 1 Teaspoon Vanilla
  • 1 Cup Pure Pumpkin Puree
  • 2 Cups Flour
  • 1 Teaspoon Baking Soda
  • 1/4 Teaspoon Salt
  • 2 1/2 Teaspoons Pumpkin Pie Spice
  • 1 Teaspoon Cinnamon
  • 1 Cup Raisins

And boom… You now have a fanTABulous fall treat that you will enjoy, kids will eat up and it will be like ghosts and goblins came and stole them off the place because they will NOT last long.

2014-10-26_0001There’s this family, they’re part of the cool kids club for sure. I mean, first of all, I’ve rocked their family portraits for a few years now. Secondly, Rich, well, I’ve known rich since I was like 4…. Maybe 3? And let’s just say that our minds tend to roll on the same pages, from style to activities and more. So, when it’s time for these guys, I’m always ready to rock it out.

Rich and Christina are lucky enough to have Princess 1 and Princess 2… (I prefer to keep children names off the blog so there! :p ) For two sisters, they get along so freakin’ well. They’re adorable, laughing, smiling, running. All together. I mean, we’ll see how things go when they’re in their teens, but for now. It’s so adorable to watch. Not to mention, watching them grow up as I have. 2014-10-26_0002

Anyway, Essex, Ct. is the place for this years shoot. Last year I believe we did the beach, so this year we went to a quiet secret park in town that I know of. I guess that’s one of the perks of growing up down there. This park is set on a hill with these awesome stone walls and spectacular trees. At one time it was an estate and when the owner passed away she left it to the town so long as they kept it a park for others to enjoy. (if you’re scared of dogs don’t go there, people love bringing their dogs there and some tend to lick. As Rich discovered, he got it in the face)…

I guess it’s time I leave you to the slideshow and the photos below. As always, feel free to leave some love for these guys down in the comments section and CONTACT ME HERE if you have any questions or are interested in learning more about photos for your wedding or family…

Enjoy!!!

2014-10-24_0026First off, there will totally be more wedding posts coming soon. Things have been so off the hook crazy… AWESOME crazy though. So many great shoots, a ton of new 2015/16 weddings booked. A bunch of 2014 weddings shot. Family sessions from past brides and good friends and so much more…

And with all that awesome crazy, comes an awesome crazy engagement session at Topsmead Park in Litchfield, Ct. It’s such a great state park. And you would think by all the recent posts that I just about live there. Maybe the truth is, I would LOVE to live there. Seriously, LOVE LOVE LOVE to. If anyone can arrange that I’ll happily do any photography work you need for the rest of your life. haha. Anyway…

2014-10-24_0014All that talk and really, what I should be talking about is these two awesome individuals. Welcome Meghan and Justin (and of course their furry family member)… I first met Meghan and Justin at another wedding I was invited into about a year and a half ago. I even have a shot of them together as proof, just in case anyone needs to see it. haha. These two totally get each other. And I don’t mean they just “get” each other. But Justin sees Meghan and understands her for who and what she is. I think he keeps her grounded a bit while she lifts him off the ground a bit. Their differences compliment each other very well and it’s great to witness and I for one, CAN NOT WAIT for their wedding that will be held at… Oh, I’m not going to tell you. What if it’s a secret…

What I will say is that you won’t want to miss it. If there’s one thing I know, it’s going to be a great ceremony and a ROCKIN’ party!!!!!!

2014-10-24_0025

For now, a slideshow of some of their images and below that, well, more of their images. Enjoy and feel free to leave love for them in the comments section located below. And if you know someone getting married or you need some photography work simple CONTACT ME HERE. And remember, I capture weddings across the country and around the world and I even have a fun “thing” going on right now where someone will end up with up to $1000.00. 2014-10-24_0034It’s always so great when another wedding professional comes in your direction for photo work. Especially when it’s a family session. I run into Jennifer often as she frequents Starbucks with her daughter and well, I practically live at Starbucks editing away. Anyway… Jennifer is an awesome wedding planner. She can take your event on for the day, or right from the start getting her hands and energy wrapped up in your day to make sure it’s completely perfect. (but all that will be coming in another post soon about just what she can make happen)2014-10-24_0038

For now, it’s about her family session. And the day at Topsmead was perfect. Her daughter was all laughs and smiles and doing everything she was told not to do. I know I know, sounds crazy but really, it was perfect. “What ever you do, don’t kiss daddy on the cheek..” And BOOM! Kisses on the cheek for dad. You get the idea.

Anyway, the session went wonderfully, Jennifer and Chris looking so great, a “heading out on the town for dinner” look that worked perfect! Aurora fit in just as perfectly with her cute little black tutu… All in all, a great session for sure. Enjoy the slideshow below, the pics below that and if you feel like it. Let the family know how you feel in the comments area below that.

And if you need to contact me for anything, use that contact tab above. 😉

Enjoy!!!
